Cougar in the City

Knock Knock! There's a Cougar in Town.

Okay, okay.. I'm not a cougar in the sense that I'm chasing 22-year-olds around town, but I'm an animal when it comes to my goals and aspirations in this rat race of a place. This month marks my 6th year living in New York City and I've never felt more motivated to keep pushing towards my goals.

For the last few months, I've been updating my wardrobe to make sure its directed to were I want to go and not necessarily where I'm comfortable at. You know the saying-- "Dress for the job you want, not the job you have."--it applies in the sense that I want to upgrade my wardrobe while still growing as the boss I am.

My way of dressing beyond myself, or at least beyond my normal black on black uniform, includes a new abundance of silk shift dresses that give a pop! Specifically, this ZARA leopard print shift literally screamed my name when I saw it in the store.

An updated wardrobe can do wonders to your self-confidence and your overall goals. I mean, I've published 2 blog posts in 2 weeks, so you knooooow I'm feeling good.

But, while this can be seen as just an outward expression of confidence, I can honestly say with everything that I've gone through so far in 2018, I've never felt more empowered and self-motivated in who I am and who I know I can be as a person.

While this beauty is sold out, I've found another leo printed dress that packs just as much punch.

Rosé All Day: Polo Classic Style

It's National Rosé Day!!  And who doesn't love a little bubbly?

Rosé is obviously the new summer favorite for NYC living, so I've grown to love the sweet tasting libation on a hot day or two.

Last week, I officially started my summer festivities at the 11th Annual Veuve Clicquot Polo Classic with one of my dearest friends. (Gotta love great friend's that surprise you with sold out tickets to most photographed event to start the summer). And while some came to take photos to prove that they were there and few actually came to watch a polo match, I came to do a little bit of both and of course drink great champagne.

While I loved sipping on champagne and looking at everyone's polo-esque wardrobe of church hats, midi-length sun dresses and seersucker suits, I chose a more casual yet chic approach to Saturday polo.

I paired my favorite ASOS Mom Fit Jeans with this intricately folded JOVANI crop top. Now, I know what you're thinking... "JOVANI makes separates?"--Actually yes, but I took one of my favorite two-piece gowns, that's actually almost sold out at Neiman Marcus, and definitely came through with the fashion without being too over the top! Who knew it would be a smart idea to make evening wear multi-purposeful? Pairing these 2 together with my new favorite Mallory mules from Steve Madden and these fan earrings from Zara made for the summer chic style I've been craving all year.

This look will be perfect for any Saturday brunch for sure!

Back to the Rosé...

My favorite Rosé at the moment is First Press Ruby Red--a sweet sparkling Rosé with a hint of grapefruit that I can actually stand--it's one of those fruits I've never been a fan of until I found this tasty drink.

Breaking The Rules: White After Labor Day

Some rules are just meant to be broken... Especially if it's your first night out back in NYC after about 2 months of nonstop working and a little bit of play!

If you knew how long this outfit has actually been in my closet, you'd probably think I had some big extravagant plan for this set. But, there's always a time and a place for everything! I actually bought the tube top and wide-leg trousers over a year ago (YES I SAID A YEAR), but wanted to have the look altered to perfection. Right before my trip to Greece, I did just that.

I decided to wear this gorgeous set during my office end of NY Fashion Week party and I must say it was well worth the wait!

The awesome thing about this outfit is that the pieces although all the same shade of white, are all different textures. By mixing and matching different textures while still keeping a monochrome palette, I'm staying right on trend this season. I especially love this satin vest I bought from Naked Wardrobe.

Perfecting the Look: Denim for Fall

Fall fashion reigns supreme in my closet. From my go-to leather jacket to chunky knit sweaters and my new favorite distressed boyfriend jeans, Fall is the time to layer up and look fab. And what better way to stay stylish in the cool than with denim! Here are a few of my picks to rock the perfect pair of jeans this season.

70's Chic

Who doesn't love a bellbottom? I'm so happy the trend is back this season and I'm planning on taking it on 100%. I found an awesome pair of flares from Topshop (which has become my favorite for denim) and this ponte mock neck shirt from American Apparel to really get that 70's essence. I finished off the look with my favorite cognac platforms from Steve Madden.

**To get that floor grazing look with your flares, buy your jeans at a longer length**

Slightly Distressed

I've never been the type to rock the distressed look and I'm not really sure why not. I've been wanting a pair of slouchy boyfriend jeans for sometime now, and I found the perfect pair for $40! For more of a sexy going out look, I paired these jeans with a olive body suit and brown heels. You could definitely do a nice wedge with this look as well.

Now, I bet you're thinking a body suit and baggy jeans = fashion disaster, but paired together it still gives some mystery while showing minimal skin. I compare this look to Kendall Jenner's  exposed hip bone look in Fausto Puglisi at the 2014 MuchMusic Awards. It's risky but tasteful at the same time.

If you want to take a more rock-glam approach, pair your slouchy denim with a graphic tee and a leather jacket. It's the perfect cool-girl look for fall. And if you want to take it even more casual, switch out your heels for a pair of converse or wedge sneakers.

My favorite look this Fall will definitely be boho chic. While I love being edgy and on trend when it comes to my leather and flares, it never hurts to stick with the classics. I'm going to get a lot of wear out of my favorite Jamie Jeans from Topshop. A flowy silk top with a graphic kimono will take this look to the next level, and we can't forget about suede bootie.

Strike a Pose

Working in fashion has given me a lot of opportunities to work behind the camera. From celebrity shoots for magazines to catalogue shoots for our newest collections, I've spent days directing models and photographers to get the best shots. It's something that I really love to do and can call one of my passions, but I've never been in front of the camera.... until now

At this week's Maslavi shoot, I had an impromptu session in front of the camera with photographer Yasmine Asha, and let's just say I think I killed it! Not tooting my own horn but, all those years of posing models sure didn't hurt me.
