My trips always end up being pretty spontaneous. So when my 3 of my best friends suggested we take a trip to finish out our summer, I couldn't pass it up. Fast forward 1 month later I found myself in the most beautiful country I'd ever been to...GREECE.
Befor I get on with my adventure, I just have to tell you, if you ever go to Greece, DRINK AS MUCH OF THEIR ORANGE JUICE AS POSSIBLE! IT'S ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS! I'M NOT KIDDING! I'M ACTUALLY CRAVING IT RIGHT NOW!!!!
Okay... back to the story lol
FIRST STOP: ATHENS
With every trip, I think it's a great idea to get a little bit of education in. So when we decided on going to Greece, I knew I wanted to stop in the capital city and heart of an ancient civilization. We spent 1.5 days in Athens, which was more than enough to see all of the monuments and museums. It was an amazing experience seeing all of the ancient monuments. From the Acropolis to the Panathenaic Stadium, it really blew my mind to see what it took to build these places. When staying in Athens, we decided to book an AirBNB. Although I was a LITTLE (maybe a lot) nervous about trying this out, it really wasn't a bad decision and was definitely affordable for our day and a half trip.
One of our best experiences in Athens was the Dinner in The Sky. Yes, we legit had dinner in the sky. The food was definitely good and the view was spectacular, but I'm not sure I would do it again for the price.
DID SOMEONE SAY PARTY: MYKONOS
Our next stop was the beautiful island of Mykonos. Known for their outrageous party culture and beautiful beaches, Mykonos was definitely our time to let loose! We stayed at The George Hotel and must I say it was a great boutique hotel! I would definitely recommend The George for a relaxing weekend stay. Although it's not directly on the beach, I loved the fact that we still had a great view of the ocean while not having to worry about too many other tourists around.
We rented ATVs to get around the island which I can say was definitely a fun, easy and affordable alternative to getting taxis to head from one place to another. We drove about 20 minutes to Mykonos Town. There were great shops, restaurants and just beautiful scenery all around. It was so nice to just walk around and take in all of the beautiful pops of red, blue and greens that graced the doors, window covers and fences around this beautiful white city.
On our last day in Mykonos we spent it on Paraga Beach and I must say it was absolutely breathtaking. From the crystal clear waters to the subtle house beat in the background, this was definitely a great chill experience on our trip. Jumping into the Aegean sea for the first time, lets just say the water was FREEZING, but I absolutely loved it.
From Paraga, we made our way to Paradise Beach. (We also went to Super Paradise the night before and lets just keep those memories locked in deep.) Actually we'll keep all the Paradise memories in my head. Let's just say...we had fun :)
FALLING IN LOVE WITH SANTORINI
We ended our trip literally in the most spectacular place I've ever been to in my life. The island of Santorini is known to be a honeymoon spot, and I can completely understand why. We stayed in the iconic city of Oia at the La Perla Villas, and YES I'M COMING BACK AGAIN AND AGAIN! Staying at La Perla gave me a great authentic feel of what living on the Greek islands is like. Also our pool bartender with the Bansky tattoos was a great mixologist!
Our first night, we made our way to the famous Kastros restaurant to catch the iconic sunset view at the tip of the city. I would definitely recommend going to Kastros for the Oia sunset for 2 reasons; 1st you'll get a perfect seat without being bum-rushed by other tourists trying to get a seat and 2nd the food is pretty awesome. Jodie and I shared a single order of the Lobster pasta and I must say it was definitely pretty tasty.
On our second day in Santorini, we took a semi-private yacht tour of the island. SUNSET OIA, provided an amazing experience from us. From going to the sulfur bath to swimming in the open ocean, we definitely had some great fun. And must I say, the food was sooooooo delicious for just being on a boat.
On our last day, we walked down 250 steps to the iconic Dimitris, which I can definitely say was worth the leg workout. While my girlfriends split a kilo of red snapper and a seafood pasta, I decided on the Shrimp saganaki. I LITERALLY WILL PASS OUT FROM JUST THINKING ABOUT HOW DELICIOUS IT WAS! I've never had something that delicious and I would honestly just go back for that delicious and simple meal. I would definitely recommend going to Dimitris, but remember you'll have to go back up 250 steps back up (taking the donkey's back up the steps is an option too.)
Overall, I think this was truly one of the best and most relaxing trips of my life, and I truly have to thank my girlfriends for spending this adventure with me. I can't wait to choose our next adventure!
